Welcome To Field House Surgery
Originally situated at Wellington Road, the practice moved to Victoria House (across the road from the present premises) in 1974. The present premises were purchased in 1984. These premises were originally a farm house and at the turn of the century were transformed into a health spa, owing to the fact that there were three wells providing natural spring water to the site. Evidence of this may still be seen today as there is a “sunken” bath in one of the surgeries, although it is now covered. During the last war the premises were used by the Fire Service, again due to the fact that there was a constant supply of water from the wells.
The practice was associated with the Watson family from 1926 when Dr
Leonard Watson took it over up until April 1998 when the last member of the family
to be in the practice, Dr Alan Watson, retired. To commemorate their long and
loyal service, the family opened the Watson Family Centre, the practice’s
mother and baby unit, in June 1999.
